Earlier today she did the makeup for Jason Momoa, aka Khal Drogo, the former tightlining hottie from Game of Thrones. SIDE NOTE: Melissa is down in San Diego, California right now working behind the scenes at Comic-Con. To counter balance that you need to use something with a peach tone or an orange tone, or you risk oxidation.” “In the eye area,” Melissa said, “in general, there’s usually blue undertones. Yellow-based color correctors have a tendency to oxidize, changing colors or turning ashy on darker skin. “Sometimes they have blue undertones, red undertones, orange all kinds of different things.”

“Dark skin tones tend to have a variety of undertones,” she said. Today I asked Melissa Street, a makeup artist friend of mine who works on celebs for television and movies (she’s great check her out on Twitter and Facebook), why some yellow-based color correctors turn funky shades on darker skin. It also evens out the skin tone on my lids - mighty convenient when I’m chronically sleep deprived, as I’ve been this week.įor me, Soft Ochre actually seems to work better than many dedicated primers billed as color correctors do ( Benefit Lemon Aid and Too Faced Lemon Drop, for example) as it doesn’t turn gray on my tan skin. Very little time to work with the product.Dang if it doesn’t brighten my eyes as well as anything. If you have dry lids – using this will not be easy.

Will only come off when makeup remover is used. Brilliant for people with oily eyelids.Little bit of the product goes a long way. Swatch of Painterly in natural light mac painterly paint pot review eye swatches Also if using a brush, a lot of the product clings to the brush and it has to be cleaned thoroughly after each use. Otherwise it is extremely difficult to use. But if you are like me and have super dry eyelids this product can only be applied on top of some eye cream or moisturizer. It is excellent for oily eyelids, because on application it becomes very matte and dry. Once on the skin, it has to be blended in immediately and one needs to be very quick while working with this product. One thing to note is that this is a very dry sort of formula. If you are uncomfortable with the idea of dipping your finger into the paint pot, you could scape out a thin layer using a small spoon or thin blade. Very little of this product is enough to apply a pigmented layer over both eye lids, so one pot will last a really long time.

Also great is a brush with synthetic hair. Swirl your finger a couple of times in the pot and pat it onto your eye-lid. The best way to work with this paint pot is to use your finger. Kajals that normally would smudge like crazy on me, manage to stay defined and dark on me all day. If it is smudged close to the upper and lower lash line, it works as a great base for kohls and eyeliners.

Any colour applied with painterly as a base appears much brighter and stays much longer. This product works brilliantly as an eye-shadow base. My favourite way to wear this product as an eye-shadow is with a satin finish brown or taupe in the crease. There is no creasing or caking at all. The colour complements almost every skin tone beautifully.
